What is hpk hockey?

HPK Hockey is a Finnish professional ice hockey team based in Hämeenlinna, Finland. HPK stands for Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho, which translates to Hämeenlinna Ball Club. The team was founded in 1929 and has since become one of the most successful clubs in Finnish ice hockey history.

HPK has won three Finnish national championships (in 2006, 2019, and 2021), as well as one European Trophy (in 2012). The team has also produced several notable players who have gone on to play in the NHL, including Kimmo Timonen, Miikka Kiprusoff, and Teemu Riihijärvi.

In addition to its professional team, HPK also has a strong focus on developing young talent through its youth academy. The club's home stadium is the Ritarihalli arena, which has a seating capacity of around 5,400.
